Just shy of six months from when you arrived, mom and I were there to attend your graduation. How proud we were of you (and still are)! And our first hours with you confirmed something...you were more than just healed. You were transformed!
Between the lines, I could read the tears he cried over me in prayer, advocating for God to save his little girl’s life. I could sense his utter defeat in attempting to fix me, and how he could only resort to trust the Creator of the universe to take things into His own hands. As an earthly father, he could only do so much. Only my Heavenly Father could do what Dad could not.
I think He knew I’d fall for the horses. He knew that my lack of trust in my body would remain until I was forced to come face-to-face with it, and so, He began a passion in me that would require such a confrontation. Thank you God for always having a plan, even though right now it feels like you are poking me in all of my tender places.
It’s obvious the enemy loves to twist the way we see things, isn’t it? The truth in Romans 12:2 - the fact that I can actually renew my mind, and transform the way that I think through God’s truth - has been life-changing for me. Before working for Mercy, I never understood the power or even necessity of speaking scripture-based truth out loud over my life. It was exactly what I was missing in my journey towards freedom, and I’m so thankful for this life-changing tool. I’ve come to realize, more often than not, I don’t “feel” like doing it, but in those moments when I don’t feel like it - that’s when I need it the most.
